Client: HHI
Type of project: Greenfield, accommodation design
ARCADION are delighted to have completed a major project for BP’s Glen Lyon FPSO (Quad 204), due to be deployed to the Schiehallion/ Lyon Field in the North Sea. ARCADION worked closely with Sam Thompson, the naval architect on the project, and Hyundai Heavy Industries’ (HHI) architecture department to design top quality living quarters for the 125 personnel who will live and work on the FPSO during normal operational periods. The flagship vessel is being built by HHI in Ulsan, South Korea.
Commenting on the quality and care taken with the Glen Lyon LQ build, Thompson said, “We have had a full-scale mock-up of the onboard cabin accommodation and facilities, and have carried out three reviews during the design development. In designing the LQ facilities for the FPSO, we have looked to provide a ‘hotel-quality’ living environment. All core crew will have single cabins with TVs and music facilities. Recreational areas are bright and open, with a clear separation between working and living spaces.”
ARCADION’s Aberdeen-based Technical Director, Clive Gregory was pleased by the progress of the project which saw the team provide interior design services for the entire accommodation. “We are dedicated to making offshore living more comfortable and efficient, and we are delighted at the success of this project which builds on our reputation for innovation, excellence and integrity”.
