Client: HHI - BP Clair Ridge
Type of project: Supply and installation
Once awarded the LQ Galley, Laundry & Mess supply and installation contract for the BP Clair Ridge platform from Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), ARCADION worked through the design and development stage with HHI, generating detailed design documents in line with HHI layouts and project specifications.
The original contract included the specification, supply & installation of the galley equipment, bakery and dishwash hoods, installation & commissioning of the fire suppression system and design, supply, installation and commissioning of the cold store refrigeration package.
During the process ARCADION hosted a human factors workshop with input from the BP Catering Operator to verify suitability of the final LQ layout taking into consideration every day operations. In addition, we designed and supplied all beverage units for various break-out areas as well as the dining room servery counters with all logistics to ship equipment to South Korea carefully managed and controlled by our experienced warehouse team in the UK.
ARCADION were also awarded the supply and installation of all stainless steel workbenches and shelving for the galley, cold stores, janitor and cleaning stores throughout LQ with this element of work being sub-supplied to JEITEK, our South Korean Partner, who manufactured the bespoke units at their purpose built factory.
ARCADION mobilised to HHI’s sub-contractor Shinhan Machinery Co (SMC) yard in Ulsan in line with the installation schedule to complete the galley, laundry and mess workscopes with SMC being responsible for the overall completion and delivery of the LQ module at Shinhan yard.
Due to increased knowledge of site processes, familiarity of materials, systems and scope, availability of skilled labour and experience working closely with SMC at site, ARCADION were requested to assist SMC further by completing other scopes, in addition to the original contract. The additional scope on LQ included supporting electrical and plumbing works and architectural outfitting. ARCADION also supported SMC closing out punch list items to facilitate room completions and minimise architectural carry over for their client offshore.
A second ARCADION team then mobilised to South Korea to support HHI on the QUID module at HHI Ulsan yard, providing architectural support which involved the installation of ceiling and panelling systems and supporting HHI’s fixed furniture and flooring installer as and when requested up until the point of module sail away from South Korea.
Design, engineering, supply and installation of the laboratories in the QUID module were latterly added to ARCADION’s scope and involved detailed design of the lab furniture and fume cupboards, giving consideration to the gas supplies to the area.
ARCADION site teams worked closely with HHI and SMC throughout to help achieve their client schedule commitments while upholding the project specifications, design requirements and overall quality finish required within the UK offshore environment.
Construction of Clair Ridge in the North Sea West of Shetland is now complete.
